It's the 30th, it's ten to ten, and it's still number one, it's Top of my LJ posts!

Wooo....so I've put some pics of Japan up on FB - it was the only photo mass-uploader that Lapple II could handle apparently (though I blame the deletion of Safari 4.0....boooo! curse it in all its user-unfriendly updates, it's so unlike you Mac....tsk tsk). Feel free to have a gander. There are plenty (and I mean PLENTY) more to come (and captions/explanations too in some cases), but I've actually (sort of) fulfilled my vow of last month....boo ya!

I didn't get a place on the 'First Aid at Work' course (much as I suspected I wouldn't) because it was oversubscribed (I knew my manager's lateness in signing would punish me...*vows to bug her relentlessly next time she wants something*) and I didn't make the cut of 'staff useful enough to the College' (that's a kick in the ego, right there!), so guess if there's an emergency I'll just run around flapping my arms and panicking, as is apparently otherwise acceptable *sighs*

I've mastered three point turns and reverse parallel parking to test standard, according to my driving instructor *squeeees*

I've failed to get a better job yet again on getting a first and second round interview. The credit crunch/my general unemployability suck mightily *sighs*

I've been to my first BBQ of Summer and am going to a lido tomorrow to combat the sweaty ol' weather. 70s-tastic *squeeees*

I have a sucky sucky training day at work this Friday, which, if it's anything like the one before Christmas, will consist of morons telling me how to do my job in a worse fashion than I already do, in patronising, tautological, and for the most part wholly made-up jargon (viz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaxLEy7vrMw). A glance at the timetable for the day showed sessions focussing on 'understandability' and 'SMOG' ('simplified measure of gobbledegook')....uhhm...k...not holding out much hope there now *sighs*

A random remark from the Beau's eldest brother led me to discover 'Bat for Lashes'' 'Moon&Moon' and 'Sad Eyes' which I've mentally added to my favourite songs of all time list. If you ever go to another BfL gig turb14 can I come too? Pleeeeease? (or maybe you could just recommend any others I might like?) *squeees*

I've still not got my arse into gear viz: piano/keyboard learnin'. *sighs*

...But I finish work on the 10th and I plan to use some of my spare time to pick it up again (along with revising for/passing my driving theory and maybe working on exciting nail painting designs...to pursue my new pipe dream of opening a chain of exciting nail bars - my dear Mother's immediate response to this suggestion was:
'careful you don't get nailed (chortle) by the Koreans'
[me thinking she might have misheard] 'um...what?'
Just I think they might have cornered the market there already' - I love you, you crazy, yet relentlessly supportive woman :D)

Soooo...has been a pretty lousy month with rejections from current and prospective workplaces, general idiocy, exhaustion and hormonal suckiness (esp. on top of some bad family news, but don't really want to delve into that here) BUT trying to look on the bright side (hence squeeing at pretty mundane achievements/things) and ROLL ON SUMMER HOLIDAYS I say (though not if it's gonna be this friggin' hot all the time *peels clothes off sweaty parts*....mmmmm)

Chow for now (this is how I signed off on a healthy eating group that I joined on LJ...lolz)
A xx

Wallpaper Meme from freya_9

Rules:
01. Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their LiveJournal.
02. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
03. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!

Technically I am not 'using' this wallpaper. Much as I get a thrill out of it, this is the wallpaper of my workplace. This is because I like to check LJ at work. My work is exceedingly dull and checking LJ makes the day go that bit faster.
Don't tell my boss.

'I heard the minx remark, She'd meet him after dark,Inside St. James' Park and give him one!'

...so once again it seems I'm made of fail on the photo-putting-up front. I have a bazillion (well, ok 3585) pictures of Japan that may never see the light of day, and several hundreds of others from various parties/excursions etc that I feel bad putting up already because I haven't put up the Japan ones yet. *sigh* So, new goal of the month=put up all (or at least some) of the Japan pics, and all the relevant ones thereafter, be it on Facebook, photobucket etc, wiche'er it be, often it's both (£2 to anyone who gets that reference...and no it's not Google-able, I checked).
Anyway as of last month I've lost my camping virginity in Swanage (and enjoyed it so much I went camping again in Cheddar - the Gorge is worth a visit if you ever get the chance, esp if you like cheese and/or cider).
And in other news... my boss has decided to allow me to attend the 'First Aid at Work' course (she initially ummed and ahed over letting me do it, I suspect because she sees me as temporary staff, and doesn't want to train me with the College's money, for me then to just update my CV and bugger off - which was kind of the plan, but hey-ho) anyway, she finally agreed - though ONLY just in time for the application deadline I might add - but I came up against another hurdle in the form of the woman running the course who has apparently had more applicants than can realistically be trained (though she said it was 20...really, when classes are usually about 30+, and the people in question are all adults, AND we could potentially be saving lives/the College from lawsuits, I really don't see the problem) but they're going to assess each applicant's worth to the College, and decide based on that. I felt like telling her that we have NO first aiders on the 11th floor, the first aider on the 10th floor is difficult to locate at the best of times, and we have a number of disabled students who frequent the 11th floor, which rather increases the odds of us actually needing a first aider...but weighing it up, I think I'd rather just say 'I told you so' when there's a medical crisis *jaded sigh*

On the whole though, I can't really complain. I'm still v. lucky to have a job (I wouldn't go so far as to call it a good job, lovely as all my colleagues are, it's a bit lacking in stimulation), am making a lot of progress on driving lessons (go me for managing loads of roundabouts without stalling! (after I'd tried it twice on the big dual-carriage way roundabout near me, I found it wasn't really to my taste) and for doing several three-point turns successfully! AND for knowing about all 6 types of pedestrian crossing! ...There's School-crossings (the only dully non-animal-named); Zebra - that's the ordinary stripy one with belisha beacons at either end; Pelican - that's PE-destrian LI-ght CON-trolled; Puffin - that's P-edestrain U-ser [F-reakishly?] F-riendly IN-telligent crossing); Toucan - that's TWO-CAN cross (for bikes and pedestrians - cheesy I know) and my extreme favourite, Pegasus, which is used largely in Scotland, and, as anyone with a smattering of Greek mythical knowledge could probably tell you is for horses (sadly not winged ones though), and is very similar to a Pelican one, but just has a horse-rider accessible (i.e. v. high-up) button. Glad you asked? :) )

AND the beau and I have sorted out our differences and things are going really well. We spent the entire weekend pretty much eating and/or lounging in St. James' Park in the unusually strong sunshine. Fun times :)
Adios for now (until I get ma pics up at any rate).
xx

And now for something, rather similar

Hullo - cutting it a wee bit fine in terms of the monthly blog plan but better late than never, eh? (my life motto...only it should be in Latin, because it sounds more refined...or at least it would be if I knew Latin....anyone?). Sooo...things have looked up a bit since my last rather embittered post. Reparation have been made between me and the beau, things are going well so far, and....*drumroll* am off to Japan on Saturday! I really can't wait, not least to see galvani again for a long period of time - it's been way too long! Anyway, panicked as I am - being the deeply unprepared person I am, I've only just started to organise things like adapter plugs/some sort of a bag big enough to actually carry all my stuff for 2 weeks/learning some basic Japanese words etc etc - it's going to be aaaaawesome!
So, my next post shoud be a lot more exciting/replete with thrilling pictures of the wonders of Japan
*squeeeeeee*
A xx

p.s. No progress on driving and/or piano playing plans yet, but hopefully more news post-Japan (my life is now divided into pre and post-Japan...because this will be the most exciting thing I've ever done!)

'Boys! Can't live with 'em...so will live without 'em'

Hola!
I'm fulfilling one New Year's promises with February's post! so...I went to Tenerife last week and it was really great - a week sunning on the beach, whale watching on a fake pirate ship (and jumpin off into the sea - so much fun!), seeing various animal shows in Loro Parque (cheeky sealions, a 'drunk' parrot and men surfing on dolphins - it was pretty amazing!) and essentially having two sisters! The only downside was the abysmal behaviour of the b.f whilst I was away, but even that has a silver lining in that I've emerged (relatively) unscathed from the most destructive relationship I've ever been in. Wo0t! I think the next few weeks will probably be pretty hard going - I hate being alone :( - but I know it's much better for my sanity in the long run, so will try to keep looking ahead, and work on being happy on my own for a while...

...anyway, on a mildly less soul-searching note back to the New Year's resolutions - I've not done well on the piano nor the driving lesson front. The lack of driving lessons is mostly a money thing - am still paying for the upcoming Japan trip (and probably will be until I'm in my 30s... :S) but the lack of piano practice is just sheer laziness. In fact I think I'll attempt to clear some space in my room tonight and at least set up the keyboard. A small start is better than none!...

Hope you're all good out there in livejournal land
A xxx
